Company Policies

All photography is priced according to the nature of the work required to create it, and the uses for which it is intended.

Usage: Architectural photography fees generally include the usage license for promotion of the designers' or builders' services as well as office display, portfolios, design competitions, web sites and proposal materials. Additional uses such as magazine reproduction may also be negotiated.

Advertising uses of a broader scope dictate higher fees.

It is very important to discuss what the actual usage needs are for the project with the photographer in order to arrive at an appropriate fee for the work.

Multiple client use: This is an incredible opportunity to save costs and time for all parties. Often, the architect, designer and builder all wish to share the expense and usage of the project photographs. This can mean a substantial savings and might encourage more extensive photography than if everyone hired their own photographer.

Transfer of License: Finally, all users of the images, whether in a single or multiple usage agreement, must understand that a copyright license is not transferable to a third party. This means a set of prints which is given to a subcontractor or home owner is an additional use and must be included in the original licensing agreement.

Additional Information: For continued discussion on copyright and usage, ASMP (The American Society of Media Photographers) has published a pamphlet entitled Commissioning Architectural Photography.
